You can go rafting, fishing, boating, biking, kayaking or canoeing on Nantahala Lake, rafting on Nantahala river, hike numerous trails, or simply enjoy the gorgeous scenery from a comfortable chair.
Scenic drives through Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway are less than an hour away.
CANOE RIDING
Complimentary canoes for my dear guests! Yes, you heard that right! My guests are more than welcome to use canoes I have at my private lakefront dock area at no charge. First come, first served! Conveniently located right across the road.
The Nantahala is often the site of championship competitions, including the 2012 National Youth Fly Fishing Championships pictured above. The Nantahala River offers anglers some of the South's most celebrated trout-fishing waters. North Carolina Game and Fish named it one of the state's ten best trout streams and Trout Unlimited listed it as one of the nation's 'Top 100' trout streams. The river is stocked by the state of North Carolina but also has a very good population of native trout.

Wesser Bald Fire Tower via Appalachian Trail is a 2.2 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Topton, North Carolina that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Take a short hike from the summit parking area to climb an old stone fire tower, built in 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, to witness panoramic views of the southern Appalachian mountain chain. Forest Service Road 69, which runs from Wayah Road to the Bald, is closed January-March. While it's 87 miles from Asheville, there's much to do in the area for a day trip.
